Melissa’s diverse practice focuses on nonprofit, transactional, and litigation matters, including contract drafting and negotiation, governance, business operations, and business disputes. She regularly advises nonprofit organizations and small businesses on formation, compliance, strategic contracting, and dispute resolution, and provides practical, solutions-oriented counsel across both transactional and litigation matters. In addition to her work at Werge & Corbin Law Group, she serves as an affiliate faculty member at Metropolitan State University of Denver, Department of Social Work Masters Programs, teaching Legal Issues in Social Work Practice.
Prior to joining the firm, she practiced in a small Denver-based civil and commercial litigation firm for seven years. She also previously served as a legal and management consultant for a non-profit organization dedicated to STEM education and cybersecurity. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado Law School and former law clerk to The Honorable Judge Jack Berryhill of the First Judicial District of Colorado.
Melissa is passionate about outdoor activities, particularly hiking, alpine touring, and backpacking, and enjoys exploring the world through adventure-based travel. When she is not carrying heavy things uphill for long periods of time, she volunteers with the Junior League of Denver, an organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact. She is also a volunteer at Metro Caring, a community-based anti-hunger organization in Denver.
