Reflections from Our Recent CLE Presentation on “Finding the Right Fit" / by Thomas Werge

During the last week of October, our Denver-based Werge & Corbin Law Group partners, Greg and Tom, had the chance to lead a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) presentation focused on Finding the Right Fit in law firm partnerships. They went in ready to share what they’ve learned from their 3-year journey together, the wins and the stumbles. But here’s the thing; Greg and Tom were reminded of something simple but powerful: just how well they work together.

Werge & Corbin started as two separate practices with the same core belief: clients deserve excellence, integrity, and a team that can work together to get things done. The idea of their collaboration - the ability to communicate openly and challenge each other with mutual respect and a united goal; it’s what our firm is built on.

Tom launched Werge Law in 2016 in Denver, driven by a passion to deliver efficient, high-quality legal services in litigation, small business, and music law. Greg launched Signal Law in 2019 with a focus on delivering the same quality of service to startups, in business transactions, and in non-profit representation. The two connected through their shared belief that law firms should be as collaborative and nimble as the clients they serve.

In 2020, Greg joined Werge Law Group as Of Counsel while continuing to develop his independent practice. But just two years later, it became evident they should join forces, and the partnership was made official. On April 1, 2022, Denver-based law firm Werge & Corbin Law Group was born; a name that now represents not only their shared professional vision but the combined strength of two complementary approaches to the law.

At its core, Werge & Corbin Law Group is built on teamwork, transparency, and initiative. This firm does not run on just the two of them. It runs on our entire team. Every person here, from partners to paralegals to support staff, plays a critical role in what we do for our clients. We take ownership. We communicate constantly. We move with urgency because we know our clients are counting on us. Partnerships don’t work without that kind of collaboration across the board, and we’re grateful every day for the people who make this place what it is.

When Tom and Greg presented their thoughts on partnership, it became abundantly clear that a true partnership is more than strategy or structure. Partners must work to maintain a genuine respect for each other’s perspectives. Our partners may not always agree, but that’s the point. Their differing ideas push the firm forward, keep us adaptable, and ensure that our team can create opportunities for our clients to succeed.

What does this mean for our clients? It means when you work with us, you’re not just getting one attorney; you’re getting an entire team that communicates, collaborates, and shows up ready to pursue your best outcome. That CLE reminded Greg and Tom why they built this partnership in the first place, and it reminded all of us why we’re proud to be part of it. Our clients feel that difference, and so do we. It’s what makes the work meaningful, and what makes Werge & Corbin Law Group more than just a law firm. We’re a team you can count on.
