Standing Proud with the CLBA at the 2026 Gay-La! / by Thomas Werge

Werge & Corbin Law Group was honored to attend this year’s Colorado LGBTQ+ Bar Association's (CLBA) Annual Scholarship Gay-la, an event of inspiring speeches, well-deserved recognition, and a fabulous sense of community.

We’re proud supporters of the CLBA and its mission: to advance the professional and personal lives of Colorado’s LGBTQ+ legal community and to protect and empower Colorado’s LGBTQ+ community as a whole.

We were especially proud to celebrate our Associate Kelsey Martin, who served as CLBA President this past year. Kelsey has shown extraordinary dedication to the CLBA, all while undergoing a stem cell transplant treatment for lymphoma, an incredibly intense and exhausting experience for her. But through it all, she continued to lead, support her community, and help her team put together an incredible event. That kind of commitment, resilience, and leadership deserves to be celebrated.

And celebrate, we did! The speeches were powerful, the awards were encouraging, and the energy in the room was something special. From the rainbow lights to the pronoun pins, it was a great reminder of what it means to create spaces where people feel welcomed, respected, and celebrated.

Claire Hunter won the award for Ally of the Year, and in her speech she talked about the 'art of noticing.' Highlighting how we can all pay close attention to the structures and spaces our LGBTQ+ neighbors and friends are in and use our allyship to make these places our voices, resources, and connections to make them more inclusive.

Congratulations to Kelsey and the entire CLBA team on an amazing year and a truly memorable event. WCLG is honored to support this organization and proud to stand alongside the people working to make the legal profession more welcoming for everyone.
