A Seamless Partnership: How Stitchcraft Marketing Found the Right Legal Partner in Werge & Corbin Law Group / by Thomas Werge

When Lisa Shroyer set her sights on acquiring Stitchcraft Marketing, she knew she was taking on more than a business. She was taking on a legacy.

Founded in 2009, Stitchcraft is a boutique marketing agency with a loyal following in the independent craft industry serving quilt shops, yarn brands, and creative entrepreneurs across the country.

By January 2026, Lisa had completed the acquisition and stepped into ownership. But the path from decision to closing was anything but simple.

Lisa wasn’t only buying a business; she was taking responsibility for its legacy while positioning it for future growth. With a background in management and digital media and two decades as a corporate high performer, she was ready to build something of her own. Still, acquiring an existing company brought a level of complexity that required the right legal partner.

Moving Fast Without Getting It Wrong

In November, Lisa had a Letter of Intent to review and needed legal support immediately, in the middle of the holiday season. She found Werge & Corbin Law Group through Linkedin and reached out after reviewing the firm’s work with small businesses.

Her first call with Greg Corbin confirmed she was in the right place.

“He was warm, conversational, and immediately understood my situation,” Lisa recalls. “I needed someone who could move quickly but also think long-term with me. I remember thinking—this is someone I could actually work with for years.”

Legal Counsel the Does More Than Just Review Documents

That relationship mattered. For a first-time business owner, trust and communication are just as critical as legal expertise.

From early negotiations through closing, Werge & Corbin guided Lisa through the full arc of the transaction.

“They didn’t just process paperwork,” she says. “They helped me think through decisions. As a first-time business owner, that made all the difference.”

Business acquisitions carry real complexity; due diligence, representations and warranties, post-closing obligations, and employment considerations which all need careful attention. The documents reflect decisions, and the decisions require judgment. Greg's role was to make sure Lisa understood not just what she was signing, but why, and what each choice meant for the business she was building.

Werge & Corbin Law Group focuses its practice on small businesses and nonprofit organizations, clients who need responsive, practical legal counsel at the moments that matter most. Whether the work is an acquisition, a commercial contract, a formation, or an ongoing legal strategy, the goal is the same: give clients the clarity and confidence to move forward.

Since the acquisition, Stitchcraft Marketing has been growing and continuing to serve craft industry brands across the country while Lisa builds the agency's strong foundation.

That's the outcome we work toward for every client: not just a clean close, but a strong start.
